Gay Washington state legislator steps up
As LGBT people in Washington state and LGBT groups nationwide expressed anger over the Washington Supreme Court ruling against marriage equality today, an openly gay Washington state legislator is stepping up to the plate.
According to an article from 365gay.com News, Washington State House member Representative Ed Murray (D-Seattle) said he would take the Court’s suggestion of the legislature overturning the DOMA seriously.
Representative Murray will be introducing a bill in the state legislature to allow marriage for same-sex couples.
Will it go anywhere?
Representative Murray seems to think Washington’s Democratic Governor would sign it, but folks are already anticipating a great deal of opposition from the legislature’s Gay Objectors’ Party (GOP).
This bill will definitely be one to keep an eye on.
