Pride Fest hate crime

by Matt | July 30th, 2006 |

Two men leaving San Diego’s Pride Festival in Balboa Park were attacked by three men wielding a baseball bat and hurling derogatory, anti-gay language today.

The attack occured at approximately 9:45pm (PST) on Saturday.

Police say that during the attack one of the men was hit with the bat while the other felt an object stabbed into his back.

Both men were taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

It is not known whether suspects have been identified or if the crime is being considered a hate crime by police. California hate crimes legislation does protect on the basis of sexual orientation.
