This is heartbreaking. My congregation is Baptist, but because it is GLBT affirming (part of the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists), we get many “spiritual refugees,” Queer folk who have been forced out of other denominations and traditions. So, I have heard such stories many times before (they were one of the catalysts God used to change my views on same sex issues years ago), but they always break my heart.
