Fox news the most conservative? Not in NC.

by Matt | September 21st, 2006 |

While that may be true of the national Fox news network, I don’t ever want to hear someone say that about our local affiliate, Fox 8 WGHP (which is a corporate station, by the way - owned by News Corp.).

They have, out of all the news stations in the Triad, offered the best coverage of the local efforts in the national Soulforce Right to Serve Campaign. They started out with a long news section on it on Sunday night and Monday morning. They’ve updated folks all week and this morning, within the first 3 minutes of the Morning Show, featured another update. On top of ALL that… they’ve invited me to come into the studios for a live interview with Morning Show hosts Cindy Farmer and Brad Jones during the top of the 7 o’clock news hour (peak time in morning news - btw). They’ve also promised to cover the event today at the 10:30am press conference and beyond.

WXII 12 (NBC) (which, as a Winston-Salem native, has always been among my most watched) and WFMY 2 (CBS) (which I used to watch everyday with my grandparents) need to hop on the train… it’s pulling out of the station quick (and we wouldn’t want to give the title of “most conservative” to one of them, now would we?).

  2. Hey Matt:

I’d like to speak to you about this. Are you going to the Guild meeting tonight?

  3. I applaud WGHP for being so ‘understanding’ of the ‘gay issue’ (as a musician, I have many ‘gay’ friends and aquaintences, and not in a ‘Stephen Colbert’ sense, either), I saw an article on Waterboarding last night (sunday, 05 NOV 10pm edition) that could best be descibed as Propaganda for torture. I’ve been trying to find a link to the story, because I want to start a thread on it in the AdultSwim website’s message boards (I LIVE in ‘rants’ practicly, and am considered a ‘liberal’ pundit by my friends, and a Flaming Troll by ‘conservatives’ on the board. If you are friends with them, if you could get a link to that story, I would be most appriciative.

    Thank you.
Good luck on the movement. Preducdice is predudice, be it racism, sexism, or any othe ‘ism’ out there.
