Kissin’ some NC State ass - I think I’ll pass
by Matt | October 28th, 2006 |NC State LGBT Center. The most up-to-date news right here.
The on-going saga of anti-gay hate and bigotry from NC State just keeps on saga-ing (yeah, I made up the word, so what?).
With love, from DeAndre’ Johnson (pictured right):
and as for fags wanting to comment on spelling and grammer id tell you to kiss my ass but you might just be tempted to actually do it.
Number One: I think I’ll pass. Although I’ve run into a lot of NC State boys I do think are cute, DeAndre’ surely isn’t one of them.
Number Two: Quit flattering yourself, DeAndre’. Not all the “fags” are out to get a piece of your ass. I’d dare say that most “fags” would want someone a little more educated anyways (oh, yeah… and gay, too, unless of course you are gay and you’re just using this whole anti-gay hate thing as a facade to hide your true self).
Since when did it become so okay to so freely and openly use anti-gay slurs like fag, faggot and queer? Oh… that’s right: It’s always been okay.
Why do DeAndre’ and Ishma, African-American men, think it is okay to use words like fag and faggot? How would they react if a white person used the “N-word” to describe them or to refer to them? I don’t know the answer, because I’m not in their minds, but I could take an educated guess.
African-Americans (and I have plenty of black friends who would back me up on this, including Madame Pam) have absolutely no right to bash other people or put other people in a state of second-class citizenship or to favor discrimination against a whole class of people. You have to wonder if these folks learned anything from those history lessons on hundreds of years of slavery and government-sanctioned discrimination against people just like them.
The ignorance from coming out of NC State is blinding. Maybe they should raise their admission standards?

I’d just like to take this time to urge everyone that is reading this to go to te facebook group’s wall itself rather than get your information from this person. This person is merely pulling the occasional hate speech off of the site and plugging it in here to make it out like this is all that is going on in the deabte when the majority of us in the debate on facebook are not even against the LGBT center or even the center getting some student fees, we are just against them getting over $100,000 dollars. To the blogger: I know its just the internet, but you could at least TRY to accurately represent what is really going on.
By Brian on Oct 29, 2006
I’m accurately representing the bigotry and hate emanating from that group. I never said “All members of the group are _______.” I just said that there was some pretty bad anti-gay hate coming out from it. You can’t deny that.
How can you associate yourself with such hate, such bigotry, such ignorance, such prejudice?
By Matt on Oct 29, 2006
Oh and another thing… If the Facebook group truly is for students who are against this group for money purposes, then why are the operators of the group allowing members to misrepresent their purpose by saying such things? Kinda looks like the operators of the group agree with what is being said if they let the group members post such horrible things.

I’m not associating myself with it, I have on that very wall denounced it multiple times. Also, read the group description, the group description desribes what the group is there for and is quite clear. Also, last time I checked there is a right to free speech, I don’t know for sure, but my guess would be that the creators of the group are letting people speak freely for this purpose, especially since many of the people who are for the center’s funding have said some pretty out there things themselves as I myself was accused of being a gaybasher despite defending those who are debating in a civilized fashion.

Well, I’m glad we’ve settled that freedom of speech is a real and true thing. They can bash and I can point it out.
Have you ever stopped to wonder why so many people in that group are saying such horribly (and sometimes violent) anti-gay things? Would you and your friends tolerate the same actions toward other minorities? Would you and your friends associate yourself (be in the same group) with a group of people saying the African-American center should go, all while using racist slurs and epithets? Would you tolerate people saying African-Americans or other minorities should die or be placed on an island?
Hopefully you aren’t so blind as to see why the speech on that board upsets me so much. I have a right to be upset when I see language like that. I also have a right to point it out and shine the light on it.
I’m sorry NC State’s name has been associated with this. Hopefully the LGBT Center will help with this problem. Maybe NC State will eventually get around to raising its admissions standards.

You by all means have the right to put whatever you want into the spotlight. All I am asking is that you at least occasionally point out that there are people on both sides of the debate both being civil and trying to keep things civil. Beyond that have at it, now that this blog is linked into the facebook wall, hopefully some of the hate speech will die out for fear of the individuals being chewed out on here.
And I wouldn’t bash NCSU admissions, we have a higher incoming freshman GPA than UNCG. (just a little friendly humor!)

Haha… Yes Brian… I’m fully aware. It must be said that I didn’t come to UNCG because of its (non-existent) academic reputation. I chose UNCG because it was close to home, was an LGBT friendly school and was in a larger city than the other college on my list.
If you read the first post I did on the subject, I think I managed to adequately and fairly cover all sides of the debate. The posts since that time have tried to spotlight the hate behind it. At first the debate was entirely about money and from where I sit, it just seemed to get more and more and more hateful. It kind of seemed to me as though people had underlying reasons for opposing the money for the center (which I’m sure you can admit is true for some folks).
Have you read the official proposal for the LGBT Center? I really, really, really suggest that you do. In the end you may still feel as though the money isn’t worth it, but it may give you some idea as to why it is felt an LGBT Center is necessary.
You seem like a level-headed guy. You’re right, also: I haven’t seen the anti-gay rhetoric coming specifically from you. Maybe you could go onto the wall at the group and remind people again that bashing others and using such horrible language is inappropriate, immature and, whether they agree with it or not, part of the reason why this LGBT Center proposal has popped up to begin with. I mean, how safe would you feel if your fellow students went around stressing a Biblical verse saying you should die?
Well… I’m off to bed. If you comment any more, I’ll catch it in the morning and respond then. Talk to you later.

HAHA, as someone who has seen many people go to NCSU because they didn’t get accepted to Carolina, I must say maybe they should raise their standards. All in friendly basketball humor of course…
Brian,
surely you’re concerned by the fact that the Students against the LGBT center group is being used for people to post such terrible messages. I’ve read all the posts on there and while many are from well informed people who have legitimate reasons for opposing it, you know what stands out on that wall? the ridiculous statements that people, like those mentioned on this blog are making. If I were you I would leave that group just so my name would not be associated with such ignorant statements, lest people think you feel the same way. The negative messages are more overpowering than anything else. Yes, they have the right to say whatever they want, but they need to realize that their comments are reflective on the group, since they belong to that group. It’s called personal accountability, not Free Speech.

Maybe you can find a meeting of the minds with those guys by telling them how you still maintain Duke’s Colin Finnerty is guilty of rape.
By Joe T. on Oct 29, 2006
Just because I haven’t talked about doesn’t mean I “maintain” they are guilty. I think we’ve discussed this before Joe. I told you it was a subject I wasn’t really interested in any longer, hence why no more posts had gone up. My interests change over time and I’m under no obligation to write about anything I don’t want to (and don’t try the whole libel or slander thing, because if he wanted to sue he’d be going after people on MSNBC and CNN and all the other major news places and not some blogger). I’m not going to discuss this any further.
Go trolling some where else. Respect me, my blog and my right to write about anything I want (because, I do pay for this, you know). If you can’t do that, I’ll simply just have to block your comments.
