Gay & Republican
by Matt | October 29th, 2006 |In case you missed the October 19th Triad Guild meeting, “Is it OK to be gay? And Republican?” check out the Carolina Peacemaker’s article on it.
They did a good job, although I need to send them some corrections. I founded my high school’s (not University’s) Gay-Straight Alliance and I am the former Outreach Coordinator for UNCG PRIDE!. But yeah… it was a good article.

I’m glad that the Log Cabin Republicans mentioned that not everyone is Republican just for the platform issues, but for the basic tenents of the party such as limited government and less taxes. We get such a bad rap lately over the “issues” and people forget that the party does have good qualities!

Well I guess it’s too bad your party isn’t really sticking to its principles any more. Limited/small government? Fiscal conservatism? Yeah right. The Republicans of today have made the government bigger than it has ever been in the history of our nation and they have spent more and more and more money. Looks like you all need to seriously reconsider exactly what principles you all hold dear (either that or you need to elect leaders who actually believe in and enforce your principles, because Bush and all his cronies in the White House and Congress hardly fit the bill).

yeah, but like I tell everyone else, and now i’ll tell you, the TRUE conservatives and people who KNOW what the party’s all about are gonna take it back! Wanna know why the President’s ratings are so low? He’s alienated his base. He thinks his base is the extreme religious right but he’s oh so wrong. In 2008 were going to elect a REAL Republican *cough cough MCCAIN* and take the party back!
