My Blog’s Christmas Wish List

by Matt | November 26th, 2006 |

While I haven’t really stopped to think about what I want personally for Christmas (my mom has asked numerous times already in the past few days), I do have a few thoughts as to what I would like to see for my blog.

  • So here goes… My blog’s Christmas wish list (which will be updated as I think of more things, for sure):
  • A new domain name, something perhaps reflecting the fact that I had a name change and my name isn’t just “Matt Hill” anymore. (I think people visiting my blog tend to get confused, as emails originating from the site and blog links still refer to me as “Matt Hill” and not “Matt Hill Comer” or “Matt Comer”).
  • Figure out a way with my wonderful web-host hero, Sue Polinsky, on how to get my the domain name (currently, www.matthillnc.com) to not hide links when people visit (for example, someone types in matthillnc.com to their browser to come to the site, yet when they click on another link, the matthillnc.com stays in the address bar and doesn’t change to the just clicked address).
  • See if I can’t get the whole web address think to work to where someone can either visit a particular post by clicking a link like www.onlinegreensboro.com/~matthillnc/?p=1638 or something like www.matthillnc.com/?p=1638
  • Find a co-blogger: My life is starting to get hectic. I want to find someone who can co-blog with me so that we can keep up the amount of blogging that goes on here, but yet keep me from going insane. This one need will be a biggie once I start going in and out of town next semester and when I’m gone on the Equality Ride (past posts) in March and April (I’ll still be making posts from the road, but definitely not as often and those posts will most likely be related to the Equality Ride, so I’ll need someone to keep up with the usual stuff blogged about on here). More on this need coming in the next post.

Like I said, I’ll probably be adding to this list as I think some more.

  2. The reason your URL changes is that you opted, for the low price, to have web “client” hosting, as opposed to paying for “full domain hosting.” The difference, per year, is huge. We haven’t nagged about the huge database you have with all those photos and are rather pleased to host your blog.

Would you like to talk about some work/trade or something to equal the usual cost of hosting? It’s about time we had coffee again, you think?

  3. Hey Sue… Thanks. I kind of figured that was the reason.

The photos… Yeah… I was starting to wonder when something might be said about that.

I think coffee sounds like a great idea. We’ll be able to chat about it. I may have to wait to closer to the end of the semester for coffee though, I know that this week will be crazy. I’ve got to finish up a huge paper (like 15-20 pages) for my political science class. I’ll email you soon.
