Welcome to the NEW InterstateQ.com

by Matt | January 14th, 2007 |

Hey everyone!

A lot of progress has been made in switching over to the new domain name, but a lot has yet to be done.

The site is pretty much all up and running, although I’m sure that you will definitely find some bugs here and there (especially with links back to the old material). There really isn’t much I can do about that right now and that will only take time (I have over close to 1800 posts, so it isn’t going to be easy to go back and change the back-links to my own material).

I’m thinking that I’m just going to have to get rid of the Meta re-direct on the old page, so that old material can still be accessed. For each individual old post on the old site, however, you are redirected to the corresponding post here on the new domain (cool, huh?).

If you encounter any major problems, PLEASE email me… matt@interstateq.com

  2. Love the new domain… I think your going to see alot traffic now that your set up right. I might suggest though doing a 301 redirect from your old domain to the new site, so you can retain your pagerank.

  3. I thought of doing that. I probably should. The single post pages, however, I do not want to put a 301 re-direct on, because I want people to be able to redirect from the old post to the corresponding post here. As of right now the old post pages have a JavaScript code that will transfer the viewer from the old post to the corresponding one here at InterstateQ.com. If they don’t have JavaScript enabled they can click a link themselves to come to the new, corresponding post.

  5. Yes… I did get some sleep, lol. Thanks for all the help Michele. I appreciate it so much.

The pain is now having to go back to many of the profiles I’ve created (either specifically for the blog on aggregating sites or on my personal social networking sites) and changing the URL and feed addresses.

I emailed Roch earlier about Greensboro101 and it didn’t take him too long to update it or so it seems.
