Triad Business Guild to host David Lohse, openly gay UNC Athletics Communications Director
I’m sure that many of you will remember back to this past December (if you read my blog then) when I posted a simple holiday greeting to you all from the UNC Men’s Swimming Team and Athletics Communications director David Lohse.
Oh… you don’t?
Refresh your memory…

Well… you see, the message on the photo (which was actually a postcard), was “Hope your Xmas packages are as festive as mine!” You’ll see Lohse in the middle, amongst the guys from the UNC Men’s Swim Team. A simple, jovial, Christmas card in which no one was forced to participate and in which one of the guys actually suggested the greeting line.
As it seems, UNC-Chapel Hill didn’t necessarily like the card… and drama ensued.

sburton@triadhealthproject.comThe Triad Business and Professional Guild (TBPG) will host speaker Dave Lohse at their upcoming April meeting, on Thursday April 19, 2007 at the Ashford Suites Hotel, 3901 Sedgebrook Street, High Point, NC.
Lohse is currently in his 30th year of service in the athletic communications office at the University of North Carolina. He served as the assistant director of the office from 1977-1990, and has served as the associate director since 1990. Highlighting his illustrious career are over 100 awards for his writing and publications from the College Sports Information Directors of America. Lohse serves as the Tar Heels’ public address announcer for the schools men’s and women’s soccer, swimming and diving, tennis and lacrosse teams as well as handling the day to day communications duties for women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s fencing, men’s tennis and men’s lacrosse.
Lohse’s life in sports is featured in the book Jocks by author Dan Woog. Lohse has served as the press officer for diving and yachting at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, associate communications director for the 1994 Gay Games IV in New York City and as press venue chief for aquatics at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
The evening will begin with a networking cocktail/social hour at 6:00 pm. Dinner will be a buffet meal, starting at 7:00 pm, and the program with speaker will begin at 8:00 pm.
