The Reverend Jerry Falwell has passed away at age 73.

Personal commentary: I know Falwell has caused a lot of damage to the LGBT community and many, many lives, but death and injury is never a good thing for any person. I definitely do not agree with Jerry Falwell but I do know that no matter how bad he has treated me (I was arrested at his university with the Equality Ride after all), I know that I cannot - and hope no one else does - take pleasure in his pain.

  2. What I find absolutely stunning is that Falwell, Limbaugh, and others on the religious right rail against gays. Yet there is no mention that each and every one of them is morbidly obese. They have gravely sinned against their bodies. This is very serious because Falwell had congestive heart disease yet refused to give up gorging on high fat feasts. Same with Limbaugh. Yet the media only covers the so-called sin of the homosexual lifestyle. This bias is amazing.

  3. Sorry Matt but I cannot feel sad for Jerry’s fall into oblivion. He has just done so much evil in his lifetime.

I am looking forward to the day that Fred Phelps and Pat Robertson follow into eternal nothingness.

  4. I’m not asking anyone to feel sorry for him. Just be polite. Don’t stoop to their level. There is a difference between legitimate discussion of a person’s life and legacy and right-out hating and bashing. We’ve called Falwell and his gang on it… let’s not do what they are guilty of.
