Black activists should be ashamed for supporting discriminatory Boy Scouts

From News Blaze:

“If the Boy Scouts were anti-God, championed homosexuality and were anti-establishment, I would venture to say they would find themselves welcome in Philadelphia. It’s the fact that they stick to and seek to promote a responsible and reasonable code of ethics that makes them a target of the anti-family left that tends to dominate urban governments such as Philadelphia’s these days,” said Project 21 chairman Mychal Massie.

Meanwhile, from a small Southern town’s newspaper:

Black community leaders are calling on the town council to let the League of the South remain in the 150-year-old Lee Mansion on Davis Avenue.

“If the League of the South stood up for the left-wing values of atheism and ‘diversity,’ this town council would have no problem with them. The council should quit wasting their time trying to push out the League of the South; they are helping people.”

The League of the South has operated social and political events at the city-owned Lee Mansion since the Great Depression. Service is limited to those the organization refers to as “true, Southern-born and bred gentlemen and ladies.”

The League originally built the mansion and later turned it over to the city in exchange for a $1 per year lease.

I’m sickened.

  2. I’m saddened too.

Thanks for standing up, speaking, and living proudly, Matt. You are educated and informed, you care about your family, you foster positive values and a deep faith. You–and many others like you–expose the “anti-god, anti-values, anti-family” rhetoric of anti-gay politics, preachers, and pundits for what it really is: completely and utterly false.

  3. I laugh every time I hear these fundamentalist whack jobs trash atheism. What a pity they don’t get the idea that freedom of religion goes hand in hand with freedom from religion. Pity for them these so-called ‘family values’ whack jobs aren’t aware that atheists have a significantly lower divorce rate, as compared to theists (http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_dira.htm), which means the atheists live the ‘family values’ paradigm far better than the theists do.
