Banding together: Help send the LGBA to the inauguration

by Matt Comer, January 16, 2009, 8:07 pm

bandingtogetherFor the first time ever, an LGBT organization will have the honor of marching in the Inaugural Parade after Barack Obama’s swearing in on Jan. 20.

The Lesbian and Gay Band Association will march and play inspiring tunes, ushering in the administration of the 44th U.S. President.

But they need your help to get there:

  • $10 will provide lunch for a musician during rehearsal (200 lunches needed)
  • $15 to provide one case of water (23 cases needed)
  • $15 will purchase handwarmers for one rank of musicians (22 ranks)
  • $40 to provide one musician’s bus seat to the parade and back (180 seats needed)
  • $75 will sponsor a piece of music (we’re playing 5 pieces)
  • $400 to furnish one new banner to say who we are, loud and clear

You can contribute to the LGBA here.

Personally, I can’t give them anything. I wish I could, but I’m “banding together” this weekend with other bloggers around the nation to urge all my readers to help the LGBA. When they march on Tuesday, they’ll make history. When you help them get there, you’ll be part of it!
