Update: Soulforce’s ‘Equality Ride’ and Falwell’s Liberty U.
by Matt | March 8th, 2006 |As I briefly mentioned in my first post on Soulforce and the “Equality Ride”, Liberty University founder the Reverend Jerry Falwell has issued a warning to Soulforce participants: You are not welcome.
You can read more about Falwell’s warning in these two articles:
Also, as it turns out, I will be travelling up to Lynchburg, VA, and Liberty University on Friday to take part in the Soulforce’s events at Liberty University. I’ll be riding with some colleagues and fellow LGBT advocates from here in Greensboro. The couple I’ll be riding with is the same couple which moved out of their home of decades in Fredericksburg, VA, to Greensboro, NC, due to Virginia’s oppressive anti-LGBT marriage statutes and pending amendment.
I hope all goes well and I hope we are all able to reach some students at Liberty. Like I said in my first post on the subject, I’ll update you all on the goings-on when I return.
