Bigots claim victory over Charlotte Pride

The “Charlotte Righteous” have claimed that they are responsible for shutting down the 2006 Charlotte Pride:

CHARLOTTE, NC, March 27 /Christian Wire Service/ — “Charlotte Pride,” that horrific abomination where homosexual perversion is paraded publicly in Marshall Park in Downtown Charlotte every spring, is finished! Thank God! - Rev Flip Benham, Operation Save America, formerly known as Operation Rescue.
No more open displays of obscenity with photos of males in full frontal nudity. No more vendor booths selling S&M merchandise. No more sound stage with transvestite dancers simulating sodomy with children. No more vile and threatening comments made toward children by homosexual comedians. Marshall Park will be free this year from the vile assaults of the homosexual community.
We pray that God will push the radical homosexual agenda – not just back into the closet – but all the way into its lying, murderous grave, and leave no marker for it. As the Church has come out of the closet, the homosexual community has returned to the closet. Light and darkness cannot coexist. Life and death are not compatible – the beginning of one is the end of the other. Christianity and homosexuality are sworn enemies – one brings life, the other brings death.
I don’t know all the details about what is happening here and the Charlotte Pride website offers no information on the subject. I guess we’ll just have to keep watch in the next few days for some more substantial (and maybe less hate-filled and bigoted) news.

I really have no idea where to get a copy. I’ve been involved in LGBT activism for like six years now and I’ve never even seen a copy. You’d think I might have seen it by now don’t you?

I think the OSA would be much more supportive of Charlotte Pride if gay people did not have sex with each other. But gay is all about sex. Take sex out and your called good friends. Even OSA thinks friends are good. Gay sex is the agenda they speak of. Christians don’t care what gays do in their bed rooms they just don’t want to see it in public. You have a right to express yourself and they have a right to protest it. And that is it, end of story.

I have no idea whether or not people were engaging in sex in public in Charlotte. OSA says people were… the organizers say it didn’t happen. Either way… the OSA is pushing a religious agenda… political aims based SOLELY on religious “law” or “command”… in America that shit doesn’t happen. If OSA wants a government to be influenced by religious law then what they really want is either fascism or a theocracy, neither of which will be happening in America.

AND AS LONG AS THE MAJORITY HOLD THOSE VALUES IT WILL CONTINUE. THAT IS NOT A BAD THING. WITHOUT MORALITY WE HAVE ANARCHY. THE REALITY IS ANY ONE WITH POWER WANTS TO DICTATE THE RULES. You are right… this country has been guided by religious morality and, as a Christian, I couldn’t wish for anything more. You are also right in saying that morality is not a bad thing. If you read some of my posts concerning groups like the International Socialist Organization, you will understand that I am very much against anarchy and/or moral relativity. I am not against religious morality… just religiously-motivated/-rooted prejudice and hate.

Are you aware that the Bible has been used to justify many, many types of discrimination and societal wrongs? Just because people believe in something and feel as though their own stance is “God’s Word” and wish for the world, doesn’t mean that it is right. The subjegation of women to property-like status, the enslavement of native Africans in America, the ill-treatment of the physically and mentally disabled… all of these were justified at one time or another by religiously motivated bias and prejudice. Strong belief or faith in what they stand for doesn’t excuse the fact that what they are doing is wrong.

In reference to your comment about the “mutual hate”… I don’t think I am hating anyone. By calling someone a bigot I am doing nothing but saying the truth… those people fit the dictionary definition of bigot as defined by the American Heritage Dictionary:
Because some have claimed I am a “bigot” because I am “partial to my own group”… I would have to disagree. Bigots are BOTH partial to their own group and intolerant of others. I accept everyone, but what I DO NOT ACCEPT is discrimination, hate or prejudice used to hurt others or keep a group or class of people unequal in a nation supposedly built upon the principle that all of humanity is created equal.

I’m always fascinated with Biblical arguments by people on the whole 1 man/1 woman issue that totally ignore 1) Jesus never mentioned gays but did say divorcing your wife was adultery, breaking one of the commandments and that is so easily overlooked by the moralists today and 2) the Bible is full of stories about men (who seemed to have had God’s favor) that had way more than 1 woman as a wife, yet today’s moralists have apparently decided that they know better than God on that issue.
