Myrtle Beach LGBT center should unite says columnist
by Matt | May 28th, 2006 |I have fond memories of visiting my aunt in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as a child during the summers. She used to live in a beautiful house just one or two blocks from the ocean. I still have vivid memories of the beach and of driving around in her little golf cart in order to get to the sand.
It makes me happy to know that an LGBT community center is opening in Myrtle Beach. I found this little fact today, after stumbling upon a column writen in the Myrtle Beach Sun News. If I ever go back down to Myrtle Beach, I’ll be comforted to know that there is a vibrant and committed LGBT community.
The columnist relates his fears of division, particularly that caused by the upcoming marriage amendment which will be voted on by the people in November. In his column, the writer tells about a gay Myrtle Beach citizen who has united his neighbors and community for great causes. He says he hopes the new LGBT center can do the same thing.
You can read the column at the Myrtle Beach Sun News.
The Center will be opening this Thursday, June 1, 2006. More information on the center is located at their website: http://www.thecenterproject.com/
