No, you aren’t crazy and you aren’t imagining things. For my regular readers, you’ll be saying, “Oh my goodness, Not again, PLEASE!?”
After my last site design, with lots of bugs I could never fix (like the bugs with comments and the photos beside them – which most people didn’t have anyway) and lots of comments from readers and others that the site design was too much, was hard to read, etc., I’ve decided to go back to something more simple.
The four column design might have been a good thought, at first, but it got cumbersome for me and for some of my readers.
The site design will be switching back and forth from the new and old today and tomorrow as I finish up getting the new one right.

Earlier this week, when posts here on the site were a little sparse, I was working on a new, exciting and engaging project that will be officially debuting on September 4, 2007.
When I talked about the growth for InterstateQ, it was still a “possible” growth. Now the possible is a reality.
OUTlet News-Media (http://www.outletnewsmedia.com) is the product of a lot of work between me and the staff of a smaller but very active LGBTQI monthly web-magazine. We’ve banded together to bring the LGBTQI community a new community and grassroots driven news-media website with daily updated news, commentary and features, audio podcasts and a weekly, live, call-in online radio show.
But to get the new project off the ground we need your help… yes… the help of the wonderful LGBTQI blogosphere!
Yeah… we need money, or donated services, for advertising… tell let the world know who we are!
Here’s how you can help:
- Buy advertising here at InterstateQ.com. Click here to go to our order page. It won’t be like donating, since you’ll actually be getting advertising for yourself!
Donate via PayPal. Click here and then click on the Donate image. You can donate with PayPal funds or credit/debit card.
- If you have a website, donate free ad space for the days of September 4, 2007 – September 11, 2007. The ad image is pictured here to the right. Just email me at matt ‘at’ interstateq ‘dot’ com and we’ll figure out how to get the ad on your site.
- On September 4th, our debut day, write a post on your website talking about OUTlet News-Media and pump up our live, online radio show. OUTlet News Talk Radio will debut on September 5, 2007, and on September 12th, 9pm EST/6pm PST, we will have special guest Erin Davies, made famous after her VW bug was defaced with the word “fag” on the National Day of Silence (see Fagbug.com for more).
Our goal is to advertise on BlogAd networks such as the Gay BlogAd network and the Gay Politics Network. A target amount of funds to get good coverage would be about $200.00. That would give us a good start.
If you can help in any way, please do so. We’ll be unveiling a lot of new news stories and features on the OUTlet News website in the next few days and I’m reaching out to the LGBT blogosphere to find folks who might want to contribute to the site regularly. One of our newest contributors is T Town Tommy at ttowntommy.typepad.com. His blog was voted in 2006 in the top 10 best commentary blogs in Oklahoma.
Again, you can help in numerous ways, the best being advertising and donating. Thanks ya’ll.

I have been in conversations with the Editor of another LGBT news website, currently operating as a monthly web magazine.
I think conversations on a possible “merger,” or sorts, between IQN News and the other site is going well and the deal may very well go through. I’ve been working on building the website for the new news organization that will feature daily news and other features (such as podcasts) as well as a monthly web-magazine.
The “merger” between IQN News and the other news organization would grow tremendously the amount of exposure InterstateQ.com websites have in the online LGBT community. I hope it will be a great success.
If all goes well with planning, I’d hope that the new news organization will be up and running no later than the end of the month.
In order to do all this and get some good exposure, I’ll be contacting all my blogging buddies in order to touch their philanthropic side. Sound like I’m asking for money… well, I’m not (although that is greatly appreciated as well). I’ll be asking for some free ad space on their sites. It doesn’t hurt to ask!

Okay… The majority of my readers, of course, use Internet Explorer. I use Mozilla Firefox.
An ad was submitted on my site today and I had to fix some CSS and site coding to make it display properly… the only problem, you ask? Internet Explorer still doesn’t display it properly! urgh
Here is the CSS:
.left_widget ul {
list-style-type: none;
padding-left: 0;
background-color: #fff;
}
.left_widget li {
padding-left: 0;
}
Here is what it looks like in Firefox… the way it is supposed to look, with the ad (The Outer Banks ad) flat with no left indentation.

Here is what it looks like in Internet Explorer… the way it is NOT supposed to look, but the way it looks to most of my readers:

Anybody have any advice or help with the CSS? PLEASE?
UPDATE… Never mind, I figured it out, but I still hate Internet Explorer. I had to had the “margin-left” tags to both the ul and li CSS properties. Firefox was smart enough to figure out what I meant when I used “padding-left.” Internet Explorer needed further instruction.
Here is the CSS coding now:
.left_widget ul {
list-style-type: none;
padding-left: 0;
margin-left: 0px;
background-color: #fff;
}
.left_widget li {
padding-left: 0;
margin-left: 0px;
}
Here is what it now looks like in Internet Explorer…

I’m looking for more folks who would be interested in being Editors/Contributors over at IQN (theINTERSTATEQ.COMnetwork). IQN is an LGBT news/commentary site/portal. Editors/Contributors are responsible for either re-posting snippets from interesting news pieces they find around the internet or original reporting/commentary of their own.
Check out IQN at network.interstateq.com
Email me at matt ‘at’ interstateq ‘dot’ com if you are interested.
The more peeps we have, the more IQN grows.
PS – Non-profit groups and individuals can get free webhosting through IQN and already existing sites can join as IQN Affiliates. Learn More.

In just about an hour and a half, I’ll get in to my mom’s car and she’ll be driving me to the airport. Here I come New York, Southern accent and all!
I’ll try to update and keep posts up as much as possible while I’m up there. Of course, if you haven’t caught it by now, I’ll be working with the SoulforceQ Right to Marry Campaign.
And the cool this is that I actually packed light this time (although my definition of “light” is probably oh so different from other folks).

ITonight I finally got around to uploading the audio from my joint presentation with the Reverend Joe Cobb on the Soulforce Equality Ride and LGBT youth activism. The presentation took place on June 17, 2007, during the morning service of the Metropolitan Community Church of Winston-Salem.
Listen here (or right click with Windows and whatever you do with Mac to download to your computer).
Audio is about 33 minutes in length.

InterstateQ.com is two years old, July 8th 2007.Wow… has it really been two years? To go from just one out of millions on Blogger.com to what I have today… I wouldn’t give it up for anything in the world. Some new friends, new colleagues, new experiences, and, yes… maybe some new adversaries, I’m glad I have been able to experience all that I have and create so many new relationships across the entire country!
Thanks to each and every one of you for making InterstateQ what it is today. Without your love and support for both me and this site, it wouldn’t be here and I certainly wouldn’t be where I am today either.
