From the Guild’s website:
The Triad Business and Professional Guild (TBPG) will host a screening of the film “Tying the Knot” at their April meeting. “Tying the Knot” is a hard hitting documentary which looks at one of today’s most widely debated political issues: the right for gay marriage.
The film chronicles the challenges faced by both gay men and lesbians when their relationships are called into question; one lesbian must fight a police department’s unwillingness to release a pension to her after her partner is killed in the line of duty. One gay man must fight to stay in the house he shared with his partner when his deceased partner’s family disputes his will.
The screening of the film is presented in conjunction with North Carolina Gay and Lesbian Attorneys (NC GALA). NC GALA promotes professional development and support for attorneys representing LGBT clients through education, networking, and referrals. Founded in 1995, NC GALA consists of more than one hundred attorneys from Asheville to Wilmington , committed to serving the LGBT community.
