After Brian's eloquent post praising the brave equality stands of a couple New York Republicans, I thought it was interesting to read a recent article from The Daily Star (Oneonta, NY).
It seems as though the county manager in Otsego County took steps to exclude legally wedded same-sex couples (recognized in ...

The Democratic Party released a draft of their 2008 platform yesterday, according to GayWired.com News.
While advocacy groups report total LGBT participation will be increase these year, the platform makes only two mentions of "sexual orientation," regarding the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy and then in a general "non-discrimination" plank. "Gender ...

While the GOP has done much to hinder equality for LGBT Americans, it's nice to be reminded that there are also Republicans taking a stand for us. Here are some recent quotables:
“[Amendment 2] could set us back...unnecessarily or could set us on the road to progress and equality because, ...

Well... "cult" probably isn't the right word, but it sounded good in the title, huh?
A more accurate title would have been, "Niece of MLK, veritable saint and Civil Rights martyr, promotes pseudo-hate group as uncle turns in grave."
I don't know why it took me so long to find this press ...

Today Congress will hold the first hearing on the anti-gay "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy since its passage in 1993.
The hearing is at 2 p.m. and can be watched live via the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network website.

Via gayzetteblog.com (Denver) we learn of an absolutely ludicrous, radical right agenda-laden hit piece on LGBT parents and their kids.
Entitled, "Gay parents = gay kids? Study: Kids raised by gay folks more likely to grow up gay," The Denver Daily News article states:
As many as 21 percent of homosexually parented ...

Minutes after the Massachusetts Senate voted to repeal a 1913 law that would open same-sex marriage to out-of-state couples, the American Family Association's OneNewsNow posted an Associated Press article detailing the legislation's passage.
They changed the headline (and all the words "gay" to "homosexual") to read: "BREAKING NEWS: Out-of-state homosexual 'marriages' ...

David Benkof/David Bianco, who recently made waves with a string of anti-gay op-eds in gay and mainstream news publications, has decided to give up his alliance with anti-gay, radical right activists.
“I no longer feel comfortable being allied with the people running the Prop. 8 campaign, and the same-sex marriage movement ...

I'm bitter and outraged. Perhaps even a little radical. The Arizona Senate has broken all that America cherishes as our foundational principles and ideals. The federal government, charged with enforcing these ideals as embodied in the Constitution, is, of course, no where to be found.
Arizona, after soundly defeating a marriage ...

In a campaign modeled after the 2006 Soulforce Right to Serve Campaign (I was the Greensboro City Organizer for the Soulforce action), students from Harvard University have set out upon their journey toward creating discussion and bringing attention to the discriminatory "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" gay ban of the U.S. ...
