As for PRIDE month, I find that is it most definitely something to be celebrated annually.  Though I am young and clearly was not at the original riots, like any part of American history, its important to remember where one has come from in order to know where we are going. The riots at Stonewall should be celebrated because they bear with them the reminder of what people can do when they band together to fight for a cause, for themselves, for their rights.  I also find that it serves as a marker for how far we have come and how far we still have to go in the fight for equality.  But most importantly, I find that celebrating PRIDE month is crucial because of the unity it brings.  Being in the lesbian community there always seems to be some sort of drama happening.  At most times, this drama tends to tear us apart within our own social circles and cause fights and tension.  However, I find that celebrating PRIDE and remembering the riots helps to remind us that we are all in this together.  No matter how much drama can be started between us, the lesbian community,  I find that the overall big picture that is our LGBT history has the power of uniting us and showing us that in order to truly move forward, we must first learn to work together.
