as we celebrate gay pride month with many gay pride festivals (eg. true colors tour, regional GLBT parades, etc.), a lot of gays (okay, and some straighties) often ask; what's the true meaning of gay pride? what is it? what's it here for?

this question is asked quite often, however, it can not be answered. simply because gay pride is everything. it's about being proud of yourself for what you are, not what the world wants you to be. it's about equality and the fairness that's shared between orientations. it's about celebrating everything our culture has become.

gay pride is nessesary for gays in the world today. the GLBT community is the largest minority community in the world. it can easier be said as we're painting the rainbows around a sad and straight world. the world has become accepting to gays. slowly, but surely, we're being brought into society as individuals.

it's taken us lifetimes after lifetimes to get to this point, but it was worth it.

and this is why gay pride exists today...
